In this MOdule we show the effects of severe forms of temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis on mandibular dynamics. The systematic description of condylography allows the condylographic signals to be quickly and clearly assigned to the morphological changes without overlooking other, less obvious but equally important signals.

Structural changes in the condyles and the fossa or eminentia articularis of the temporomandibular joints have a major impact on the movements of the hinge axis. The visualization of the pathological changes on CT and MRI and the condylographic interpretation of the curves in such situations lead to a coherent and clear diagnosis – including the dynamic effects of these joint pathologies on the occlusal functions of chewing, bruxing and speaking.
